Liaison Interpreting
Liaison interpreting is used for business talks between business partners on a smaller scale (two or three people, not many more than that), but also for questionings by the police or for talks between a hospital doctor and his patient etc. Here, the interpreter is placed between the persons involved; he provides his interpretation after each contribution.
This means that the spoken words are not transferred to the target language simultaneously, but rather consecutively. No aids such as microphones or headsets are required.
